Is the greenhouse effect real? Does the greenhouse effect exist?

This question has been asked so many times that it's getting to be a stupid question.

Currently there is a frantic push by the global Marxist politician-run U.N. IPCC to claim that Big Oil is an existential threat because of its CO2 emissions that allegedly cause global warming via absorption and reemission of IR from the Earth surface by atmospheric CO2. They call the physical mechanism of CO2-driven global warming the greenhouse effect.

How does the greenhouse effect cause global warming? Let's say you want to learn climate science from a genuine IPCC climate scientist at Vanderbilt U.

Here's an excerpt from one of his lessons:

**A Two-Layer Model.** Insert another atmospheric layer into the model, just like the first one. The layer is transparent to visible light but a blackbody for infrared.

Only solids and liquids can be Planck black bodies, not gases. In the Earth-Sun climate system, only the surfaces of the Sun and Earth are black bodies, not the atmosphere. Now look again at the image showing up and down T^4 black body radiation arrows in the sky using the notation B(T1) etc.., along with the comment: “The layer is transparent to visible light but a blackbody for infrared.”

The number one characteristic of a black body is that it absorbs and emits photons of all wavelengths, with the radiant emissions defined by Planck's black body law to follow a characteristic power-wavelength curve that starts and ends at zero power then reaches a peak at a unique wavelength defined only by the black body's absolute temperature, not its composition.

I will make a point of citing Wikipedia articles to back up my description of basic thermal physics because even the leftist Looney Tunes activists who run it can't cover it up without revealing what crackpots they really are. Instead that's what they call me.

On top of that, all energy has a quality factor called entropy determining its power to generate heat or do the equivalent in work. The Big Bang started out with all matter in the Universe having the highest quality energy (lowest entropy), which means the hottest temperature. Ever since, each heat transfer process disperses, dilutes, or degrades the energy quality, forever decreasing its power go generate heat or do work. Eventually at some unspecified date way out in the future the Universe will go into total Heat Death, long after we're all gone.

The Earth's entire surface, water and land and every object on them is a black body. Water comprises 71% of the Earth surface, which also reflects a large amount of sunlight that is never absorbed, which is why the oceans are so cool and hard to warm.

Why must black bodies be solids and liquids, not gases? Because they have to be connected by intermolecular electron bonds that allow internal energy to be shared, with the temperature being a measure of internal energy density, while gases are just disconnected bouncing molecules whose temperature is measured by their statistical kinetic energy density, a totally different thing.

Gases not only don't absorb photons of all wavelengths, but usually pass all photons untouched, which is why the day sky is clear not dazzling, actually blue because of selective wavelength scattering, but no absorption. Only the gases CO2, H2O, and CH4 (methane) can block dinky slices of radiation, but still let the rest pass through untouched. Even then, they absorb photons one at a time, then soon reemit them in a different direction, leaving the molecule's temperature unchanged. Photons aren't heat, they're packets of energy that only create heat when absorbed by black bodies in large numbers, so all hand-waving moose hockey about greenhouse gases trapping heat with a single photon at a time is dumber than a box of black rocks.

Professional scientific scammers love to find a pony in the manure, in this case heat in a photon. Sometimes they try to claim that the photon energy adds to the kinetic energy of the molecule, heating it up, but this has nothing to do with heat because the temperature of a gas is based on the average kinetic energy of huge numbers of molecules, not just one, plus it's soon reversed when the photon is reemitted, causing the fake heat to vanish.

Photon energy is so dinky that photons can only increase the temperature of a body that absorbs large numbers of them and accumulates the energy, which is what black bodies do, not gases. Do I have to mention that photons can transfer their momentum to a gas molecule in a zillion directions other than the molecule's direction of travel that goes into its mv*2 kinetic energy? Actually the additional energy just goes into the electron bonds' rotational and vibrational modes, not the main molecule's mv*2 momentum. I wish that sick hoax would finally be given a formal funeral, but that won't happen until Marxism is given one first.

Imagine the absurdity of the claim that super-intense high energy short wavelength solar radiation that penetrates the entire atmosphere every day to deposit all its energy on the surface somehow turns into a magical heat ray that heats the atmosphere with super-weak low energy long wavelength surface cooling infrared radiation. This isn't physics, it's global Marxist propaganda that attempts to make the tail wag the dog as part of their systematic program to turn black white and white black to get their hands on the green.

Global Marxist liars pile one lie on top of another until they're stepping on their own trouser snakes. If greenhouse gases really did raise air temperatures, they would be taking heat away from the surface, making them into surface cooling agents, which is why the IPCC's fake scientists invented CO2 “back radiation” to make CO2 molecules seem able to reheat the Earth surface with its own heat, in fragrant violation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics that prohibits a colder body from spontaneously heating a hotter one. Did I mention that the Earth surface is always hotter than the air above it, indeed, air temperature systematically drops with height because of the thermodynamic lapse rate caused by air packets trading heat for work to expand against the decreasing pressure? The lapse rate alone makes any greenhouse effect claims into a sick joke, except to them, who after all have the master plan from Marx himself to abolish all private property, including your brain and your soul.

So to make the law of Nature bow to Marxism, the global Marxists push the fake physics hoax that they call CO2 back radiation, which beams down 15 microns from the sky to the surface to reheat it with its own heat. Too bad, 15 micron photons contain no heat. Look at the above diagram showing the black body curve for an Earth surface at 15C, along with the dinky slice of r adiation around 15 microns absorbed by atmospheric CO2. Also shown is the black body curve for an Earth surface at -80C.

The -80C problem aside, the U.N. IPCC junk scientists want you to believe that the dinky slice of radiation absorbed by atmospheric CO2 can replace the gigantic amount of radiation emitted by the 15C surface. See for yourself that it can't even match the full radiation curve for a -80C surface, and the atmospheric CO2 absorption/reemission limits are quite liberal. Sorry, that CO2 dog don't hunt, just try telling them that and watch caged brains bounce it off.

The black body radiation curve of power vs. wavelength has a total area that represents the total radiant emission energy, which depends on the absolute temperature to the 4th power (T^4). For the Earth surface, which almost never gets hotter than 50C and averages 15C, the radiant emission power concentrated at 8–13 microns is quite low until it reaches really hot temperatures, say 40C and up during the hottest part of the afternoon in the summer. Usually 5500C 0.4–0.8 micron solar radiant energy at the Earth surface overwhelms its cooling radiant energy, causing it to systematically heat up all day before reaching a peak in the afternoon and cooling back down all night to reset it by the next dawn, plus the temperature ranges cycle nicely over the four seasons. Thank you, no CO2 needed.

Back to energy quality, which is called entropy and is governed by Nature's ironclad Second Law of Thermodynamics. Entropy is an irreversible dilution or dispersal of energy resulting from generating heat or doing work. A black body greatly increases entropy, actually the most it can be increased for the given energy, dispersing or degrading the input energy and shifting the input black body curve way down into longer lower energy wavelengths. Only a perfect mirror would reflect energy without degrading it, but then it wouldn't heat anything.

With the Earth-Sun system, the 5500C Sun's 0.4–0.8 micron radiant energy is shifted way down to the Earth's surface temperatures, which average 15C and almost never exceed 50C for a short time in the hottest part of the summer in the desert, with an IR radiance wavelength mostly at 8–13 microns, corresponding to black body temperatures of -50C to over +50C. So far, the highest recorded Earth surface temperature was in Death Valley on July 10, 1913, way before there was a Big Oil for global Marxists to frame.

The big frame is that low quality energy can restore the temperature generated by high quality energy. That would be like claiming that if you eat the crap from eating and digesting a juicy steak, you get the same heat to power your metabolism.

I don't know about you, but I don't want crap shoved in my face with orders to eat it and like it.

The global Marxists are so arrogant that they've hijacked thermal physics itself to anchor their scam, not wanting you to know that a black body can only heat a colder black body with its radiation, and only until their temperatures equalize and their black body emission curves are identical. Talking about crap, CO2's 15 micron radiation energy is the same as the main radiation from a black body like an iron rod chilled to -80C, colder than dry ice (-78.5), which can't raise the temperature of another black body higher then -80C, meaning that it can't even melt a dry ice cube. Even if the sky were covered by a gigantic layer of dry ice, it couldn't heat anything with its pathetically diluted crap energy, much less cause heat waves, droughts, tornadoes, etc. The zany leftist environmentalists think your IQ is lower than a donut, when that's what theirs is. They're not worthy of even the minimum of respect because they're just liars and thieves.

The second big frame is the sleazy carnival shell game of energy double-counting, claiming that atmospheric greenhouse gas molecules absorb and reemit surface cooling IR photons to raise surface temperature higher than the Sun alone, but only if you don't notice that it would have to return the energy BEFORE IT EVEN LEFT. This means that even if CO2 were 100% of the atmosphere instead of a measly 0.04%, it couldn't have any effect on temperature.

There is no limit to how low global Marxist U.N. IPCC climate scientists will go to make you into their useful idiot that will work to destroy your children's future thinking you're saving it. Generation after generation of free people invented and pumped-up the fossil fuel energy to furnish your happy comfortable convenient lifestyles, which Marxists hate, so when they tell you to feel guilty about it, tel them to screw themselves, you don't hate yourself for being beautiful.

I might mention in passing the nearly univeral hoax the U.N. IPCC junk scientists push to disarm critics without proving anything, namely, the scary but final-sounding claim that the Earth's average surface temperature would be far lower without CO2 in the atmosphere.

That wraps it all up - NOT! The long wavelength IR radiation that they talk about has black body temperatures way below 0C, which can't melt an ice cube. All the real surface heat caused by absorption of solar radiation travels straight to space unhindered at the speed of light, leaving only junk photons that the global Marxists try to game us into fearing. Since they can't survive a free fair open debate on this issue, they try to make it seem like they won without needing an argument by claiming that the greenhouse effect must exist or else the Earth surface would freeze. The standard figure for the average surface temperature of the Earth is +15C, so how do they get this 17C + 15C = 32C of global warming caused by atmospheric CO2? From their asses, naturally, usually be reversing the T^4 Stefan-Boltzmann Law, which can actually be done for stars because their heat comes from inside and the temperature of the surface has achieved equilibrium. But the Earth's surface is an ever-changing kaleidoscope of nearly infinite surface temperatures that all come from an external heating source (the Sun), making it nonsense to talk about a single surface temperature. But you guessed it, since dear old Marx is involved they'll stretch the truth like a rubber band to make it seem to be proven science. Some, like Tuckett referenced above go even more Looney Tunes and attempt to derive the total energy emitted by the Earth by multiplying the received energy by the albedo, or fraction that isn't reflected. But energy isn't heat, which only exists in molecules not radiation, and Earth's surface never reemits all its received energy as radiation because it is surrounded by the atmosphere, which disperses some of the heat by air convection and water evaporation, making a Sun-Earth energy balance a joke. The only balance isn't up in space, it's a heat balance at every point of the surface, which cycles its temperatures daily and yearly, with CO2 being irrelevant.

One thing for sure, so far the money never stops as the gravy train speeds down the track threatening to go straight over the cliff taking the capitalist world with it. The number one goal of all Commie revolutionaries is to burn down capitalism so they can erect their sick flying unicorn Marxist utopia in its place. Even after all past Marxist revolutions turned into living hells with everybody's face relentlessly ground into the dirt by jackboot heel police, just believe them they're saying, this time it will be different because it has a Green label.

Ever notice that all Marxist hoaxes like 27 genders are anti-human and anti-science, and all policies they propose promote degrowth and depopulation?
