A record local heat wave in one portion of the globe is usually matched by one or several record local cold waves in other portions. Let's say the surface of the Earth were two smooth metal hemispheres with an insulator between them, with the yearly avg. temperature of hemisphere 1 being 18C and the yearly avg. temperature of hemisphere 2 being 16C. What is the GAT? Duh, there isn't one, just two avg. hemispherical temperatures. Cut the hemispheres down into a million hemispheres and you see the utter stupidity of the U.N. IPCC's GAT.

The number one law of thermal physics AKA thermodynamics is the 1900 Max Planck Black Body Radiation Law, which is the deepest and most powerful law in physics, worthy of a lifetime of study. It's almost magic the way it connects the unreachable quantum world with our everyday macro world.

A black body radiator absorbs photons of all wavelengths and emits photons of all wavelengths after drastically degrading, diluting, or lowering the heating power of the energy via Nature's ironclad Second Law of Thermodynamics (Entropy). Indeed, black bodies increase entropy the most possible for a given energy. When you look out over the land from your porch or look at the night sky, almost every solid and liquid object you see are black bodies, all busy degrading the Universe's energy quality to eventually end in the almost unimaginable Heat Death of the Universe, where no energy has any ability to generate heat or do work.

The First Law of Thermodynamics says that energy can't be created or destroyed, but it can be degraded during any process that generates heat or does work. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. That can also be summarized as energy isn't conserved.

By turning Earth climate upside-down to ignore instantaneous surface temperatures at each point along the globe and condense it into a fictitious global avg. yearly surface temperature, the global Marxists figuratively sell their lems to gain the world, over-generalizing to the point of nonsense for political gain.

U.N. IPCC groupies on social media who are actually amateurs at thermal physics like to blow off the very use of Planck's black body radiation law by claiming that the Earth's surface isn't a black body, it's a gray body. They usually add some nonsense about albedo.

Sorry, albedo is just reflectivity. A gray body is what real black bodies usually are, a non-perfect black body but still a black body, a unique object in the Universe that's always recognizable by its power-wavelength curve, which gases never have.

Albedo means reflectivity. A lot of black bodies reflect some wavelengths, but only the ones they absorb count and are used to build up the black body's internal energy density that generates the characteristic Planck body power-wavelength curve with the precise Planck's peak wavelength determined only by its absolute temperature. 'The internal energy density is measured by temperature.

The Earth is actually nearly a perfect black body, as seen in any satellite graph of its power-wavelength curve. The tiny blips and notches are insignificant, and the overall curve shape rules.

Oh yes, the Sun. It's not a solid or liquid or gas, it's a plasma, the fourth state of matter of super-hot gas that ionizes, becoming a black body radiator. In the Earth-Sun climate system, the only black bodies are the surfaces of the Earth and Sun. The atmosphere isn't one, which doesn't stop the U.N. IPCC fake climate scientists from trying to make into one to talk you out of your money.

Look at the Planck curves again. The area under each curve gives the total power emitted over all wavelengths. The Stefan-Boltzmann Law says that this is proportional to the black body's absolute temperature to the 4th power (T^4). For the Earth's surface, this means that the cooling black body infrared radiation is too small to counter the solar radiation coming in until the surface reaches quite high temperatures, say, 40C, when the fourth power dependence gains traction, limiting the surface temperature to 50C or so even in Death Valley in July. How nice for us that there's a nice comfort range in the middle.

The infrared absorption/reemission wavelength of atmospheric CO2 molecules is 15 microns, which is the same as the Planck peak wavelength of an iron rod chilled to -80C, colder than dry ice (-78.5C). And the iron rod emits a full Planck curve of a torrent of photons ranging from 0 to 50 or more microns, while a single atmospheric CO2 molecule only emits one 15 micron photon at a time, yet they want you to believe that invisible clouds of dry ice emit "CO2 back radiation" that causes heat waves, tornadoes, droughts and famines, etc. They're SICK :)

Did I mention that a big U.N. IPCC hoax is that gases are black bodies like solids and liquids? They can't be because the molecules bounce against each other and never form permanent bonds that can store energy and slowly build up heat.

That doesn't stop the U.N. IPCC junk physicists, who regularly fill their textbooks with zany unhinged diagrams showing atmospheric layers that each act like black bodies, complete with up and down arrows in the sky representing the T^4 total power emissions. Black bodies build up their temperature photon by photon because they store their energy in their electron bonds, but gases just catch and release one photon at a time, storing nothing. Duh, one photon at a time isn't T^4 anything. Indeed, the photon absorption and reemission rates don't depend on the molecule's temperature T.

Another big U.N. IPCC hoax is to claim that radiation can heat a gas. Every day super-hot solar energy travels straight through the 5-10 mi. thick atmosphere untouched before reaching the surface, which is a black body, and heating it up while attempting to cool back down by emitting super-cold infrared energy. So how can super-cold surface cooling infrared energy heat up atmospheric CO2 molecules? Even the hoaxers admit that they can't heat non-greenhouse molecules like N2 and O2 which compose 99% of the atmosphere, albeit hedging their bets by adding H2O and CH4 molecules to the greenhouse gas list.

Actually H2O vapor consists of gas and water droplets, and the latter are black bodies, along with ice crystals, so clouds do absorb both solar and infrared photons, which help cool the Earth surface more because downwelling solar radiation helps turn ice crystals into water droplets that bunch up and eventually fall as cooling precipitation, while upwelling infrared photons have a color temperature way too frigid to heat anything, and there's no such thing as cool rays that lower a black body's temperature, only either raise it or leave it untouched. Clouds are Earth's refrigerator and air conditioner, not greenhouse. Jeesh, how sick.

Greenhouse gas molecules gain their only heat via contact with the surface and conduction, like the rest of the atmosphere. A greenhouse gas molecule only absorbs one photon at a time, and soon reemits it in a different direction, leaving it at the same temperature. If radiation can't heat a gas higher than ambient, it has no heat to heat anything else with.

It's so stupid to call a single photon heat, because heat is a statistical concept. The energy in a single 15 micron photon is 1.3 E-20 joule, so it takes E+20 photons to make one joule. A watt is one joule per second.

All along you should paraphrase Clara Peller of Wendy's fame with the question: "Where's the heat?" CO2 doesn't have any, except in the alternate reality of zany unhinged Looney Tunes leftists who let global Marxists tell them what to think.

Speaking of stupid, modern U.N. IPCC shills love to tout an 1856 ezperiment by Eunice Foote that supposedly proves the greenhouse effect with thermometers, not just opacity.

Her experiment was to place two glass cylinders in the Sun, one containing CO2 and another containing pure air, and observing that the CO2 cylinder grew hotter and retained heat longer.

This proves only that CO2 has a lower heat capacity, meaning that it takes less joules of heat to raise its temperature by 1 C. This heat doesn't come from infrared radiation, but from conduction from the walls of the cylinder after it's heated by visual radiation. Those who still cite this as proving the greenhouse effect only stamp the word "DUMB-SS" on their foreheads.

Speaking of conduction, the only way that atmospheric CO2 gets heated is via contact and conduction with the Earth surface after it's heated by the Sun, making it less buoyant than ambient and causing it to rise toward space, carrying the heat with it, sysematically trading heat for work to expand against the decreasing pressure. Since atmospheric CO2 is only 0.04% of the total, its lower heat capacity makes little difference in convection, which is the source of all winds and storms, not the fake greenhouse effect - and it's a cooling effect, not a warming one.

Speaking of convection, the other way besides radiation that the Earth's surface cools is water evaporation, which removes far more heat than conduction into dry air, creating water vapor that's more buoyant than dry air and rises to create clouds, which eventually drop freezing precipiation, cooling the surface even more.

So how nuts of the U.N. IPCC hoaxers to claim that before a greenhouse gas molecule reemits its photon, it can transfer heat to neighboring molecules via collisions. Duh, there is no heat to transfer. When gas molecules collide, the translational kinetic energy of the nuclei makes them bounce like billiard balls after the nuclei repel each other. Greenhouse gas molecules absorb single photons into their electron shells, not nuclei, and since they're symmetrical they have no translational kinetic energy, plus they repel each other like the nuclei do. Plus they can't claim that the collision causes the photon to be reemitted then absorbed by the colliding molecule because it could only be reabsorbed by another CO2 molecule, not any molecule it collides with like they claim. If you want to be known as a peacemaker, you should make sure your nuclear missiles really work.

But Earth's atmosphere acts like a blanket? Yes, but greenhouse gases have nothing to do with it. It only acts like a blanket because convection proceeds at the speed of molecules, not light like radiation. Look up gaseous diffusion constant/coefficient. Radiation power is dependent on the 4th power of the absolute temperature of the black body irrespective of its surroundings, but the rate of heat loss of convection is directly linearly dependent on the temperature difference between the surface and ambient, which is called Newton's Law of Cooling. Therefore the more the surface cools, the slower the convection process sucks energy from the surface and cools it. The net effect with a miles-thick atmosphere is that it does indeed act like a blanket moderating temperature swings and keeping the surface livable, unlike our Moon which gets the same solar radiation but has no atmosphere and experiences way larger temperature swings.

Speaking of where's the heat, where is the magical extra heat in any CO2 molecule anywhere in the atmosphere? If you can find it please telegraph the Nobel Prize Committee and tell them to take mine away from me. :)

Everybody sees it when a cold black iron rod is put into a fire and after awhile it begins glowing red, then orange, yellow, etc. (ROYGBIV), and finally white, as each color systematically gets brighter. Red happens at about 500C, and the others at higher temperatures.

Speaking of hiding or obscuring, the original mistake that physicists made with atmospheric CO2 was in confusing opacity with heating. An atmospheric CO2 molecule can only absorb one 15 micron photon at a time, and soon reemits it in a different direction, leaving the molecule's temperature unchanged while blocking the direct path. This all started way back in 1824 in the Victorian steampunk 19th cent. with French physicist Joseph Fourier, when thermal physics was in its infancy and the quantum and 1900 Max Planck black body radiation law hadn't been published yet, so no wonder many physicists leapt to the conclusion that the molecules were "trapping heat"�, and let their imaginations run wild.

An atomic bomb reaches tens of millions of degrees at its center, and its mushroom cloud typically starts at 3K-4K C. Earth temperature almost always stays at or below 50C. When an atomic bomb is set off on the Earth's surface, the mushroom cloud superheats the air, causing it to become more buoyant and start rising to space, shedding the heat as it trades it for work to expand against the decreasing pressure until it hits the troposphere and spreads into a mushroom cap at a frigid -60C. The greater the temperature difference with ambient, the faster the heated air rises, just watch any movie of an atomic bomb explosion on the surface. In short, the atmosphere can dissipate the heat from an atomic bomb easily and quickly, probably even 400K a day. Either way, t he heat can never be trapped anywhere, and always flows from hotter to cooler until it reaches thermal equilibrium, so Al Gore is full of crap.

Finally, there are no atomic bombs anywhere in Earth's climate, any more than there is an Easter bunny. The First Law of Thermodynamics says that heat requires energy. Once generated, heat can only dissipate. Sorry Al Gore, there's no fission or fusion power in the climate like in an atomic bomb, just Sun power, which never exceeds 1300 or so watts per square meter, but like the grifter he is Gore thinks he can just make up boogie man stories and cash in with the suckers.

Here's why there are no atomic bombs trapped in the atmosphere. The real Earth's climate smoothly and easily dissipates solar surface heat each day without trapping any heat anywhere, as seen by the global thermodynamic lapse rate that drops atmospheric temperature systematically with height from the surface to the top of the troposphere, with greenhouse gases not making a dent. Al Gore's atomic bombs are just a boogie man scare story to shake suckers down.

This is an outrageous leftist attempt to make the tail wag the dog by minimizing the real cooling of the Earth surface by radiation and distort the picture by making cold dead CO2 seem to be a threat to cause global warming, all by misdirection.

8-13 microns is the Planck Peak wavelengths for the surface temperature range -50C to +50C. That's virtually all the heat the surface radiates each year, squished into a squirrel hole like it's i nsignificant.

14.7 (should be 15?) microns is the Planck Peak wavelength for surface temperatures of -80C, which are so cold they almost never happen, and can't really be called heat, more like short microwave. For comparison, a microwave oven magnetron wavelength is typically 100K microns, which is close to absolute zero (0.03K).

The explanation usually given by the U.N. IPCC for this diagram is that the 14.7 micron blip represents energy from the surface that never makes it to the TOA, resulting in an increase in surface temperature. As you know by now, they'sre totally denying color temperature, as if all radiation energy of all wavelengths is equal and all adds to heat black bodies. I fart in their general direction.

Speaking of microwave ovens, the magnetron wavelength can't cook anything, yet the U.N. IPCC hoaxers love it when people come to the false conclusion that microwave energy cooks food all by itself, in denial of you-guessed-it color temperature.

The truth is that the magneton power density is typically 10 watts per square meter, high enough so that polarized water molecules try to align with the field, and they take advantage of that by modulating the field at the right rate to make them spin around and heat adjoining food molecules by simple friction. If there were no modulation, the food would stay cold, and even then only the water in it is heated, spreading heat via conduction.

This hoax is aimed at science ignoramuses that think energy is conserved, claiming that the radiation energy emitted by the Earth's atmosphere to space must balance the solar radiation energy originally arriving at the top of the atmosphere (TOA), then claiming to measure it and find it unbalanced, then claiming that the Earth senses it without any sensory mechanism and increases it surface temperature to automatically restore the balance to keep the oceans from boiling.

Duh, to increase its own temperature to restore some kind of made-up energy balance, the Earth surface needs more solar energy, not more global Marxist hoax juice. Are they actually claiming that the surface creates its own heat from nothing? That isn't science, it's Marxist voodoo magic. If you buy it your children deserve to be global Marxist serfs who will likely curse you.

There is a constant global canvas of Sun-surface energy imbalances, which are taken care of locally by the various surface cooling processes, none involving greenhouse gases. Only global Marxists wanting to rule the world have the balls to turn climate science upside-down, inside-out, and ass-backwards to make the tail wag the dog and pretend to find global warming miles up where it wouldn't even matter.

The very idea of an Earth-Sun energy balance is nuts for the simple reason that the troposphere (bottom 5-10 mi. of the atmosphere where all weather takes place) is a heat engine that turns solar heat contacted by the atmosphere at the surface and convected upward into work to generate winds and storms. So how could you know, how could anyone even think there could be an Earth-Sun energy balance? Is two plus two five?

The next big reason there can't be any Earth-Sun energy balance is seen when you take a blow torch to an iron anvil and heat it to red-hot. The radiation coming from the anvil to help cool it is way loser quality (more diluted) than the energy in the torch, as seen by its way longer wavelength, meaning less energy per photon. Trying to balance apples and oranges isn't science, it's crap, literally, as if one can eat a juicy steak and then eat the crap produced from it and it will nourish your body just as well. Or a fresh fruit salad.

I can't resist saying that it's global Marxism that's crap, starting with the greenhouse effect and extending to every aspect of their gigantic wedding cake of science hoaxes sanctimonously published by their charlatan Academy of Lagado like in Jonathan Swift's 1726 novel "Gulliver's Travels", which no surprise claimed to be able to turn crap back into food.

Here's another big hoax that's so transparent it sucks rotten eggs. It's called CO2 climate sensitivity, the GAT increase with a doubling of atmospheric CO2 concentration. This number is almost always presented as a range, even though if the greenhouse effect were real there's be a precise increase in local temperatures around the globe caused by a precise amount of CO2 back radiation. But global Marxists live in a fairy tale world of their own making, where physics doesn't really matter, only unscientific claims geared to keep the cash registers ringing.
